We’re incredibly proud to announce a big milestone at Williams Taxis & Tours – starting Saturday, 10th May 2025, we are officially the first taxi service on St Helena to accept local debit card payments and St Helena Tourist App payments!

Thanks to the incredible work of the Bank of St Helena, we’ve partnered with them to bring this new payment solution to life. Their forward-thinking support and innovation have made it possible for Williams Taxis & Tours to step up and offer our customers a smoother, more flexible way to pay.
So whether you're catching a ride from the airport, booking a full-day island tour, or heading out for dinner in Jamestown, you’ll now be able to pay securely using your local debit card or the St Helena Tourist App.

Simpler travel experience. Tourists using the St Helena Tourist App can now book and pay for their journeys in a few taps, without needing to exchange currency or carry cash.
Eco-friendly and paperless. Visitors can opt for digital receipts, reducing waste and making it easier to keep track of travel expenses during their stay.
Tipping made easy. At the end of your journey, you’ll have the option to add gratuity if you feel our driver provided helpful or outstanding service.

How It Works
We’ve equipped our vehicles with Bank of St Helena (BoSH) payment devices, which use mobile data signals to process transactions quickly and securely. Just tap or insert your local debit card or scan through the Tourist App, and you're good to go.
A Quick Note on Signal Strength
As anyone on the island knows, some areas have stronger mobile signal than others.
Our BoSH devices rely on a mobile data connection, so in remote or low-signal locations, we may kindly ask to complete the payment before arriving at your final destination.
This is simply to ensure the transaction goes through smoothly and avoids any issues once we arrive at signal-blackout areas.
But rest assured – you’ll always be informed ahead of time, and our drivers are trained to assist with any questions you may have during the process.
Receipts & Gratuities: You’re in Control
At Williams Taxis & Tours, transparency and service go hand in hand.
Want a printed receipt for your ride? No problem – we’ll print one for you.
Prefer an email or digital copy? Just let us know your preference.
